Every crew member and individual acting for or on behalf of SSB is responsible for upholding our reputation. We take a zero tolerance approach to all forms of bribery and corruption, whether direct or indirect, and regardless of the amounts involved or position in the company. SSB expects third parties engaged to represent the Company’s interests to likewise comply.
SSB’s Board and top management are committed to implementing and enforcing effective policies and procedures throughout the Company for the prevention, monitoring and elimination of any form of bribery or corrupt practice. SSB upholds the Act and all applicable laws and regulatory requirements in all jurisdictions in which we operate.
It is never permitted for SSB and/or any person associated with SSB to corruptly give, agree to give, promise or offer to any person any gratification whether for the benefit of that person or another person with the intent to obtain or retain business or an advantage in the conduct of business for the Company.
No crew member or other person associated with SSB may make, direct, or solicit any other person to make, any political donation or provide anything else of value for the purpose of influencing or inducing the obtaining or retaining of business. Facilitation payments or other provision made personally to an individual in control or a process or decision are likewise disallowed. Further, no crew member of or other person associated with SSB shall directly or indirectly, give or receive a gift or gifts in excess of MYR400 per year to or from any person in connection with SSB’s business.
Internal and external parties are encouraged to report any suspected, attempted or actual corruption incidents or inadequacies of SSB’s anti-corruption programme. The confidentiality of a person’s identity and information reported will be protected. Any retaliation against those making reports in good faith is strictly prohibited. Each crew member and individual acting for or on behalf of SSB has a duty to read and understand the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy. Crew members are required, upon employment and annually thereafter, to certify their compliance with the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy. All crew members and persons associated with SSB are obligated to remain vigilant for potential corruption and immediately report any suspicious activity or violations of the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy to their immediate supervisor, SSB’s Compliance Officer or SSB’s President.
SSB treats any violation most seriously and will undertake necessary actions including, but not limited to, review of employment or appointment, dismissal, and/or reporting to the authorities, consistent with relevant laws and regulations.
The policy on Anti-Bribery and Corruption is established in conjunction with Saturna’s Code of Ethics and any other relevant policies.
